My name is Mimi Shackley. I was born and raised in a beautiful town in West Virginia. I am a wife of 26 years, mother of 3 young adults, and pet mom of many rescues. I am also the oldest daughter in a family of 10 children!
I have been designing for as long as I can remember. When I was 8 years old my family built a new home. I was given the opportunity to decorate my own bedroom. I carefully chose the carpet, paint, wallcovering, furniture and bedcoverings. I’m sure I drove my mom crazy but I LOVED my room! My mom was so supportive that she even allowed me to paint my own room.
After studying Business Management for 3 years at Marshall University in my hometown I realized I was very unfulfilled. I did some research and found a family friend that was attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh studying Interior Design. Three quick weeks later I had picked myself up, moved to Pittsburgh and started embarking on a career that I would really be happy with.
In March of 1988 I graduated in Pittsburgh and decided I had had enough of the cold! I was heading south. I soon found my first position in Palm Beach, Florida. After only 5 months there I met a neighbor that would soon become my husband. I have been very happily married to Mr. Wonderful for almost 26 years & we have raised 3 young adults 25, 24 and 22.
My career has been very well-rounded. When I began working in Florida it all started with commercial projects but later I moved into residential design. I found that I love working with families and getting to know them, their lifestyles and their personalities as we would create together room by room to improve their homes and their lives. I am happy to say that many have become life-long friends.
I am a spontaneous professional planner (go figure). I am very detail oriented and I get bored easily so I like to keep things moving. I love music and dancing, as well as most art including painting, making jewelry, making wind chimes, and most any craft I can squeeze into my schedule. I love the sun, palm trees and everything about the tropics.
I look forward to meeting you and your family and getting to know you while creating an environment that you love!
